I first met Marilyn in December of 2018, when my husband Todd took me to meet her and see the Stone House. I was amazed and impressed at her ability to manage such a large property and business out in such a remote area, at her age. She had fresh cookies baked in the cafe for the lot of us that arrived to spend New Years Eve there. There was snow on the ground but the sun was out and made for a beautiful scene. I wished I could come back and try fishing in the lake some summer. I was able to come visit her a few more times with Todd when she lived in Buffalo. She always made me feel welcome, wanted to know about me, and could tell how much I loved her son. She made me cry a little with joy the day she told me I could call her “Mom” instead of Marilyn. I am glad to have had the time we did, but I will miss her.
Looking at all the pictures sure brings back lovely memories of Aunt Marilyn. What a beautiful, vivacious, charismatic, ball of energy she was! Marilyn was so dedicated to her family and loved them like a momma tiger. I never saw anyone who could go from before daybreak to the wee hours day after day. – just so very strong physically and mentally that it was amazing. Marilyn was an excellent cook too & could whip up fabulous meals for a crowd in nothing flat & still have a smile on her face! She left behind a wonderful legacy in her family and will surely be missed, but we are all left with the memories she left behind that are a great tribute to her life on earth. I know she is with our Lord in Heaven now and in a new healthy body. And she is happily resting now with those she loves. Todd thanks for the beautiful presentation in memory of your Mother. It is priceless! Marilyn, thanks for the good times. I love you forever and always. Cheryl Joye (Hastings) Gale
I have been left with nothing but kind, caring, and supportive memories of my grandmother. One could go their whole life never knowing someone as strong, as unconditionally supportive, or as selfless as she was.
Grandma, I never got to thank you for bringing our family together. You gave us a place to gather, kept us fed (and maybe a little buzzed), encouraged our growth, our passions, and our education. I think of you often and lovingly. I’ll miss you, and I hope you know I speak of you proudly and with endless gratitude and love.
